I have to share the cutest card!! I used this great sketch this week from Connie and Mary  CCMC049 to come up with this fun card. I combined the Swirly Scribbles thinlit and the Bear Hugs stamp set to make this card. What I LOVE about this card is that it can be used for Father's Day, a Masculine Happy Birthday, Retirement or just a happy hello kinda card. How awesome is that??

Is that pretty fun or what?? I also used a new stamp for the background called Playful Backgrounds to make all those bubbles. I stamped that with Denim Dapper on Denim Dapper for a tone on tone kind of look.



Did you notice the designer paper in the center with the waves?? That paper is one of the very cool pieces from the By The Shore Designer Series paper. Oh that paper pack is very festive and full of color and fun paper!! To make the fish I stamped them in Momento Tuxedo Black, then I used  Archival Basic Gray, Daffodil Delight and Emerald Envy ink pads to color the fish. For each color I squished the ink pad, to transfer just a little ink to the lid, then used the blender pen to just add color where I wanted it. Lastly,  I added Clear Wink of Stella to make the fish shimmer, like scales on a fish!! Wink Of Stella is like magic, it really transforms a project without overwhelming it!!  I know this picture doesn't capture the shimmer, but it looks great in real life!!  :)




I really like the colors here, reminds me of cool water on a summer day!! I hope you feel inspired!!

 I know if you have been following my blog, you have been wondering about my absence! Where is she??  Our world has been a little crazy, like life just gets sometimes!! It will make more sense, when I share this card I made. I will be honest, I feel in LOVE with this stamp set when I first saw it!! It is so cute!! It has several different dinosaurs and their bones,  and our family has all boys so this is a stamp set that was a must have!! However, when this stamp set came out, this type of card was not on my radar....life threw us a curve ball!! But I really like how this card turned out, this card is for my husband who has just completed  10 weeks of radiation. He has had 2 surgeries and starts chemo in a couple weeks. So this little card is meant to cheer him up and  I hope it does just that.


Pretty cute, right? It kinda says it all!!!


To make the 'x-ray' part of the card, I first tried using the Craft White Ink, which was nice, but kinda light and not the 'pop' I was looking for. So then I tried embossing with White Embossing powder, and I liked the look much more!! I had to add the heart (from the Owl Punch) because he is my sweetie!!! :))

So this stamp set could be used for someone who broke a leg or arm or something too, just another idea.

Saturday Series: Adventure Bound Masculine cards

I just love the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper. It is so striking and unlike any other paper that Stampin' Up carries. It is NOT carrying over, so you have until Tuesday night to order this awesome collection of paper!! So I have a several masculine cards to share that I made using this paper!!  I used the Guy Greetings Stamp set (not retiring) and By the Tide (not retiring) and the Walk in the Wild (retiring) to make this set of cards.

This card is a great guy card!! The sentiment could easily be changed to Happy Father's day, or just thinking of you. The base of the card is Basic Gray cut at 4 1/4" x 11. The next layer is Whisper White cut at 4" x 5 1/4". The background stamp on the Whisper White is from By the Tide stamp set stamped in Smoky Slate, I stamped it off once to give it a subtle look. The Designer Series Paper is 1" x 5" (rock) and 1/2" x 5" (Indigo Island printed paper), these two papers are actually the same paper, just the opposite sides. I love that Stampin' Up paper is 2 sided, it's like getting extra paper!! The Basic Gray square is 3 1/4" x 3",  and the Whisper White is  3" x 2 3/4". I stamped the seaweed in  Smoky Slate, the fish was stamped with Indigo Island and popped up with dimensionals. I used Indigo Island Baker's Twine to finish it off.




Isn't this card wonderful!! I got the idea for this card from Ronda Wade. The Base card is Marina Mist cut at 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" .The wonderful check pattern is from the Adventure Bound Designer pack, it's cut at 4" x 5 1/4". The Banners are layered in Marina Mist and Early Espresso using the Banner Framelits. The stamp and sentiment used here is from Guy Greetings. What do ya think?? Feel inspired??





This card is a Z-fold card, and I just love the way it turned out.





See how it opens? That's why it's called a Z-fold.  The card base is 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", and scored at 2 1/8" and 4 1/4". The flap where the Adventure Bound Designer Series paper is to me just makes a big statement, it really makes this card. The measurements are Early Espresso 2 " x 5 1/4" and the Adventure Bound paper is 1 3/4" x 5". It is such a great combination of colors!! The square is Cajun Craze 3 1/4" x 4 1/4", and Early Espresso 3" x 4", and Whisper White at 2 3/4" x 3 3/4". To make the moose, I stamped the Walk in the Wild stamp set in Early Espresso. I  simply sponged Soft Suede on the Moose and Old Olive on the grass. I really like the way it turned out, the colors are just so soothing!! The greeting is from Wetlands.






What do you think?? The colors here are so fresh and relaxing!! I  LOVE, LOVE this card!! The base is Indigo Island. The two designer papers are from the Adventure Bound designer stack (do you see why I LOVE this stack...it's loaded with great paper!!)  both are cut at 2 1/2 x 4,  and the strip of Indigo Island in the middle is 1" x 4". The Sahara Sand square is 3" x 3" and then the Indigo Island is 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" and then Whisper White 2 1/2" x 2 1/2". The anchor is stamped with Sahara Sand and the sentiment is stamped in Indigo Island, they are both from the Guy Greetings stamp set!! It's a keeper too!! I used the banner punch to make the small banner and added a mini brad for character.

Here's a card I made for my son, he is in the Navy (in flight training) and I am sending him a little goody box. He is actually stationed here in Texas...but I still miss him. Since today is Memorial day, I thought I would slip this little card in his box!! I used the Guy Greeting for this card and Work of Art stamp set. I thought it turned out great, I am hoping it puts a smile on his face!! This would be a great card for anyone who has ever served in the military, you could easily change the sentiment to happy birthday or happy father's day!!

What do you think? I only embossed about 3/4 of the card with the Lucky Stars Embossing folder. I have used this folder on birthday, and Christmas cards, but it goes great here too!!





When I stamped the Night of Navy, I stamped off once just to allow a lighter color of blue. These colors really make the Anchor pop!! I added the Burlap ribbon to add more texture!! What do you think??

Saturday Series: One card Design, three different looks

Today for our Saturday Series I wanted to share these cards we made in class. It is one design that can be easily made masculine or feminine. How fun is that?? So I used the Guy Greetings and the Walk in the Wild (which is on the retiring list!!!) and Painted Petals (that is NOT in the new catalog coming out!). The Painted Petals is such a popular stamp set, if you don't own it, don't miss out order by June 2.

So here's my cards:




These cards were such a favorite in class. They are fast and simple, yet very versatile! What else is there?




For the Walk in the Wild card and envelop, I used the brush tip on an Early Expresso Marker for the moose. Then I used the brush tip of a Wild Wasabi marker and then gave it a good "huff" that just provides a little humidity and creates a nicely stamped image. The sentiment is also from the Walk in the Wild stamp set. As far as the design, I kept the Wild Wasabi borders tight around the circle and the Typeset Designer Series Paper. Don't yo like the candy dots added? I think they just finish off the card.




Here's the inside of the card. On each of these cards, I stamped an image on the inside of the card and on the envelop. This extra step just completes the card. The best time to stamp on the envelop and the inside of the card, is when you have all the stamps out, inked up!!










For this card I used the Painted Petals stamp set. I first inked the flower stamp in Strawberry Slush ink pad, then I took the brush end of a Melon Mambo marker and just colored in the middle of the flower. This made the flower image kind of two-toned, where the middle of the flower is just slightly a different color.




Here's the inside of the card.










For this card I used Guy Greeting stamp set and Tuxedo Black Momento Ink. A tip when using this stamp set (for using any Photopolymer stamp- place a Stampin' Pierce Mat, or a catalog under your stamped image. This gives it that extra cushion, and creates a crisp image!! The greeting here is from the Wetlands stamp set.

I started with Marina Mist, and stamped down the card without re-inking. The next color I used was Soft Sky and stamped down the card again, the last color used was So Saffron.. This mixture of colors created this greenish, blue, fun water color.

So today, I wanted to share this super cute DAD Valentine's Day card that I made using the Best Day Ever stamp set from Sale-A-Bration that I got for FREE!! I made this card using the color combination challenge from Create with Connie and Mary CCMC336 and Freshly Made Sketches #167.









So here is my card:






This stamp originally says "Best Day Ever". I placed a post-it note over the word DAY, and stamped in Momento Black ink. I then re-inked it with a  Real Red Marker and stamped the DA, then re inked just the D and came up with DAD!





I thought this turned out so cute! I don't know about you, but my dad really is the BEST DAD EVER!!  ;)

This would make such a cute Valentine's day card!! You could change the colors up and make a Father's day card, or Dad's Happy Birthday card.

Here's a cute card that I made using the Rev Up the Fun Stamp set. I made this card for the Freshly Made Sketches # 128. What I like about this sketch is it's real flexible and makes a nice card pretty quickly. So I decided to use the Rev Up the Fun stamp set, it's a fun little set, that makes great masculine cards. This is for my son....I hope he doesn't get the wrong impression....hee-hee!! I got this stamp set because I was helping one of my friends make some get well cards and stuff for sick children in the hospital.  I think you could use this set for little and older boys, all boys have their toys! (thank god, otherwise I would be in trouble with all my Stampin' Up stuff!)  :)







This is the sketch I used, it is a simple sketch that you can use over and over again.




I really like the Neutrals Designer Series paper with this, reminded me of tire tracks!






Who wouldn't want a card like this.....at any age!





I really liked how it turned out.

After Thoughts:

1. Change out the words 'happy birthday' for 'happy graduation'
2. Great stamp set for any age
3. This little set would make an adorable scrapbook page,  what do you think?
4. I also think it would be fun to add hexagon shapes to this, like a stop sign
5. Also banners would be cute, like nascar 
6. Great stamp set to use for a little boys birthday party....or big boy!
7. Nice easy sketch to keep in mind, on those days that the creative juices aren't flowing!
