Mother of Pearl Technique

Try it Technique: Mother of Pearl Tutorial

Here is a card we did in club last night. The technique is called Mother of Pearl. I wanted to try it since it was highlighted in Stampin' Success over a year ago.  You know when see something and you think, gotta make that! Well Stampin' Success is one of my favorite perks, as a Stampin' Up demonstrator!! It is a free magazine, jammed packed full of ideas, techniques. When it comes in the mail, literally I read it cover to cover.

Here's how I made it:

  1. Start with Stampin' Up's Glossy Paper
  2. Apply a dime size or smaller dab of Stampin' Up paint, on a plastic plate ( I used Frosty White)
  3. Take a small piece of Saran Wrap wadded up and dab into paint, then dab on Glosssy paper randomly (the shiny side) leaving space between the paint, this will give a variegated look
  4. Use the Brayer to roll on Classic Ink (I used Primrose Petals)
  5. Allow to dry, takes just a couple minutes-dries fast!
  6. Cut out as desired ( I used the Fun Flowers Die)

I am not sure the camera (or the photographer...  :) ) picks up on the sheen. It really looks like expensive paper. I absolutley love transforming paper!! It is so pretty. Give it a try! I think it would also make a stunning background, for a card or scrapbook page.

Its a WOW technique that is really pretty simple.

Items used:
Paper: Stampin' Up Shiny Paper, Very Vanilla, Tea for Two DSP, Lucky Limeade
Ink: Lucky Limeade, Primrose Petals
Misc:  Adorning edgelits and Embosslits, Fun Flowers Die, Antique Brads

Stampin Up Easter Carrot Treats

Easter "Carrots"

Well I guess I am having more fun with making Easter Treats!! Watch out Easter Bunny....here are some cute "carrots!"

These are sour cream containers that are made out of Stampin' Up's Designer series paper.  I saw some similiar carrots on Pinterest and had to make some! They are so cute!! I gave these out to my club members!

I love the "grass" made out of strips of paper then ran through the crimper, i  also crimped the ends to give more of a finished look. The edges were snipped to give more of a carrot shape. I put starburst inside instead of chocolate, so there wouldn't be any melting issues (you never know about Texas!)  :)

Enjoy!!

Stampin Up Grid Paper

Tool Tuesday: Stampin' Up Grid Paper

Good Morning! Happy Tuesday!! Today I wanted to highlight Stampin' Up's Grid paper. I absolutely love this tool. If you have ever been to one of my classes or workshops, you know that I use this all the time. The oversized pad of paper protects your stamping work surface. (I can always use that!!) :) It also serves as scratch paper and makes cleaning up a breeze! Another feature of the Grid paper is a box in the corner for wish list and basic card dimensions. I have some who write do card specifics (colors, sizes etc) and refer back to later. Grid paper is a very useful addition to your papercraft tool chest.

Features and Benefits:
  • 11" x 17"
  • 100 Sheets
  • Printed with Stampin Up logo and 1/4" grid
This paper is perfect for practicing when you're stamping. My sheet is always a work in progress.

Quick Trick:

If you struggle with lining up and spacing your titles, stamp first on the Grid Paper, following the grid lines. Then place the grid paper over your project but below where you want your title. Line up the stamps following the same grid lines you used to stamp your title on the grid paper.

Also if you can use the grid paper to measure and determine the middle of shapes or projects!

The best is it's recyclable... can use over and over.

Easter Treat Quick and Simple

in , , by jangirlstamps, 10:44 PM

Easter Chick and Bunny

Here is a cute Easter treat that I came up with, I saw one on Pinterest that gave me the inspiration.  For the Chick, I simply took a 3x11 piece of Daffodil Delight and scored it at 2" and 6 1/2". To make the face rounded,  I traced around a plastic cup. The "feet" and the "feathers" were made using the Party Blossums die. I simply cut them to make them look like feet and feathers. The "fluff" on top of the feathers is made by unraveling the new rose ribbon and daubing it with Tangerine Tango. The oval in front was cut using the large oval punch.

Pretty cute!! what do you think?

The bunny was made using the same pattern.  I used Whisper White and Rose Red cardstock. The ears were made using the blossum punch, and the eyes were made using the Owl punch. I used the scallop punch for his belly. The nose is an in-color brad. I think the tail is sooo cute. It is a rose from the rose ribbon. It makes me laugh!!

Easter class

by jangirlstamps, 1:35 PM
Easter Eggstravanza

I am having an Easter class on Sunday, if your in the Burleson/ Ft. Worth area, we would love to have you. These are the cute little goodies we will be making.

We will be having an Easter Eggstravaganza next Sunday!! From 2-5 at my house. We will make 10 projects, consisting of little treats, cute little Easter baskets, and a card. There are 2 options for this class. The First option is to come and make 10 adorable projects and leave very happy! All supplies/ candy included for $15.00. Option 2 is order the supplies you will need to replicate these sweet little projects and IF your order is $50, THEN you will get the class for free and also be able to take advantage of Stampin Up's Sale-A_bration, where you can get an item for FREE like stamps, paper, buttons, etc.
So If you chose to go with Option 2, here are the items I will order for you so you can make more of the projects.
1. Everybunny Stamp Set 19.95 ***
2. Watercolor Pencils 19.95***
3. blender pen (I will break set up so you can just buy 1, if you want) 3 for 9.95, 1 for 3.33 ***
4. 2011-2013 cardstock (1/2 pack) (1/2 pkg 3.49)
5. 2011-2013 Designer Series Paper (1/2 pack) 1/2 pkg 10.95
6. FREE class of 10 projects- for any order over $50
7. FREE Sale-A-Bration item-for any order over $50
*** These 3 are essential if you want to make more, but its up to you.
In class we will use all my supplies.
However this is just a suggestion! I was trying to break up some pens and paper to make like a "sampler" and at the same time allow you to take advantage of Sale-A-Bration.
Does that make sense? I was trying to let you leave class with completed projects and also the "tools" so you could make more . :)
Please RSVP, I will limit the class to 8. Also I will be placing the order on Friday, as this is the last day for Sale-A-Bration.
I also wanted to let you know that during Sale-A-Bration you can join Stampin Up as a demonstrator for $99, but recieve a total of $156 in product plus no shipping!! So if you have alot on your list, or would love to join Stampin Up, let me know.

Quick and Simple Easter Petite Pocket

in , , by jangirlstamps, 2:14 PM
This is a very cute and fast Easter treat. I used the Petite Pocket die and it really went together fast.

I thought this turned out so cute. I used the watercolor pencils and used the blender pen to soften and take away the "pencil" streaks.  By the way...had to test out the candy, and it was yummy! :)

Items used:
Cardstock: Indigo Island, Pool Party Designer Series Paper, Daffodil Delight, Whisper White
Misc: Petite Pocket Die, Daffodil Delight Seam Binding Ribbon, Scallop Square Punch, Square punch

St. Patricks Day Test Tube

in , , by jangirlstamps, 6:06 PM
Happy St. Patty's Day

Here it is St.Patricks Day! Hope you got your green on. Here's a cute treat using a test tube.

I got the idea and tutorial off Splitcoast Stampers. The idea for the "pot" came from my friend and fellow stamper Theresa. The Pot is actually the 2nd to the smallest framelit, cut in half. The Gold glimmer paper just sets it off. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Super Cute!! I feel so LUCKY!! ha-ha!

Here is another cute little treat. Again I used the Gold glimmer paper and a retired stamp set.

Everybunny Easter Purse

in , by jangirlstamps, 11:54 AM
Easter Purse

This is a cute little purse I found on Pinterest. I just had to make it!! I was unsure who originally pinned it, so sorry!  I am in love with the Everybunny Set.

Is that the cutest, or what!! We will be making these in an Easter Extravanganza next Sunday.

The Pool Party is such a soft color.

The inside holds 3 Hershey nuggets perfectly. The measurements for the nugget is 1" x 3".  I used Stampin Up's watercolor pencils and the blender pen to make the little chick, on regular Whisper White. I have found that if you don't rub excessively with the blender pen, it works just fine on regular cardstock.

Paper: Pool Party cardstock, Whisper White Cardstock, Subtle DSP So Saffron
Stamps: EveryBunny
Misc: Stampin' Up purse die, Watercolor Pencils, Blender Pen, So Saffron Ribbon

Enjoy! God Bless!
